Splitting an order is a common requirement for sellers who need to ship items separately. This is typically used in the following scenarios:
Partial Availability: When some items in an order are in stock, but others are back-ordered.
Partial Payment: When the customer has paid for only a portion of the order.
Separate Locations: When items in a single order are being dispatched from different warehouses or fulfillment centers.
eShipz allows you to easily split a single order with multiple items into multiple shipments.
You can only split an order that contains more than one item. If an order has only one item, it cannot be split.
Step 1: Navigate to the Orders Page
Log in to your eShipz dashboard and go to the Orders page.
Step 2: Select the Order to Split
Find the order you want to split and click on it to view its details. The order should have a status like "Open" or "Processing." etc
A pop-up window or a new section will appear, allowing you to select the items for the first shipment.
Select Items: Use the checkboxes next to each item to choose one or more items you want to ship at this moment.
Update Package Details: Enter the correct weight and dimensions for the new, smaller package containing only the selected items.
Create Shipment: Click the "Create Shipment" button for this set of items.
Step 5: Process the First Shipment
The platform will now create a new, separate shipment for the items you selected. You will be taken to a page to complete the booking for this new shipment, just as you would for any other order:
Choose Courier: eShipz will display a list of available couriers
Book Shipment: Select your preferred courier and click "Fetch Services" and Generate the label to ship
Step 6: Handle the Remaining Items
After the first shipment is created, the order will be updated. The items you just shipped will be marked as "Shipped," while the remaining items will stay in a "UnShipped" status.
Step 7: Create a Second (or more) Shipment
Follow the same process to create the shipments for the remaining orders.
Each time you split an order, a new shipment ID and AWB number will be generated.
This feature is crucial for managing inventory and providing transparency to your customers, who can be notified that their items will arrive in separate packages.
Make sure to communicate clearly with your customers if you are splitting their order to manage expectations and avoid confusion.
